Morel Farm - The Farmhouse

8 Adults | 2 Infants

The main archway at Morel Farm dates back to 1660, the same year as The Great Fire of London.  Looking through the arch, you can see The Farmhouse, a Grade 2 listed building recently refurbished throughout by The National Trust for Jersey.  Sleeping up to 8 adults, The Farmhouse is the perfect place to host a traditional Christmas or other celebrations as well as having a relaxing family holiday.

Located in the centre of the island, on a Green Lane (where the maximum speed for vehicles is 15 mph, and priority is given to walkers and riders), Morel Farm offers a tranquil country location, ideally placed to explore the island as a whole.  You’ll often hear the clip-clop of horses’ hooves on the local roads. Morel Farm consists of 3 houses.  The main Farmhouse, the Bakehouse and the Chapel, all of which are available as self-catering accommodation.  Group bookings can be taken for any combination of the three houses, and as the Farm can accommodate up to 12 adults this makes the houses particularly suitable for family and other reunions. Between the Farmhouse and the Chapel is a cobbled farmyard off which is the Pressoir, which contains a traditional timber cider press and a Chausey granite apple crusher. The Pressoir is open for guests to view the historic press and crusher.

The Farmhouse's drawing room is the perfect place to unwind, with a wood burning stove and deep, comfortable sofas to sink into after a day on the beach.  Across the hall, the dining room, featuring another of the large granite fireplaces you'll find in the house.  This can be used for formal dining, with a table seating eight - that's where you'll also find another wood burning stove and a wooden chest, with a selection of toys and games for the younger ones to enjoy.  Next to the dining room is the snug.  Lined with 18th century wood panels, the snug is the perfect place for a quiet escape, to read, work or write postcards at the antique desk.

The house has a large eat-in kitchen with a double oven, 5 ring induction hob, Smeg fridge freezer and dishwasher. The farmhouse table seats eight very comfortably and highchairs are also available, on request. On the other side of the hall is a shower room and a scullery/utility room with a sink, washing machine and tumble drier. Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor makes this warm and cosy even in the coldest weather.

Upstairs, the huge Master bedroom has a kingsize bed and an ensuite with a roll top bath as well as a walk in shower. The Green and Blue bedrooms have twin beds which can be zipped together to make superking beds. The Pink bedroom is a double room. These three bedrooms share the use of a bathroom and shower room.

There is space for an infant’s travel cot in the Master bedroom and Green bedroom, which will be provided on request. The bathrooms and shower rooms are stocked with complimentary toiletries from Bramley whose products are based on essential oils. The National Trust for Jersey also offers a welcome pack including local ingredients.

Outdoors, the Farmhouse enjoys its own private garden with a large picnic table and benches, Next door, is the Farm’s original walled garden, shared between the guests from The Farmhouse, Chapel and Bakehouse , where you can sit and relax in the wildflower meadow and children can play safely.
